Dr. Shailer Martin is a podiatric physician practicing with the Comprehensive and First Choice affiliates of US Foot & Ankle Specialists in Kentucky. He joined the group in March 2026 and provides comprehensive care for a wide range of foot and ankle conditions, with a strong focus on helping patients stay active and mobile.
Dr. Martin earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemistry from Saint Louis University in 2014, followed by a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Des Moines University in 2017. He went on to receive his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery in 2019. He completed his podiatric medicine and surgery residency at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, Wisconsin, where he trained in both medical and surgical management of foot and ankle conditions and earned a credential in Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery (PMSR/RRA).
As a former soccer player and long-distance runner, Dr. Martin developed an early appreciation for the importance of foot and ankle health through his own athletic injuries. This personal experience inspired his pursuit of podiatry and continues to shape his patient-centered approach to care. He enjoys treating a broad spectrum of conditions, including bunions, hammertoes, heel pain, arthritis, tendon and ligament injuries, and sports-related foot and ankle issues. Dr. Martin provides care across outpatient, inpatient, and surgical settings, with a goal of improving function and quality of life from the ground up.
Originally from Marion, Illinois, Dr. Martin now resides in Louisville, Kentucky. Outside of the clinic, he enjoys spending time outdoors hiking, camping, fishing, rock climbing, and mountain biking. He is also an avid soccer fan and proudly supports Louisville City FC and Saint Louis City SC. A fun fact about Dr. Martin—he is an enthusiastic traveler and has lived in nine different states and three different countries.
